Paetir Langraft's Trial

I transcribe this story from a magical scroll given to me by my dear and departed friend Alair Blackthorne.

-Elder Andriarna 'Andy' Dirtytoes

This particular story details a man named Paetir Langraft. A simpleton, his antics and lack of intellect greatly amused the populace. But his ambition was greater than his wits. Believing that the worship of Savras would drag him out of his rut, he began to proselytize the faith of the Divining God more than amusing the townspeople.

One day his proselytizing got carried away, and he found himself having stated that revelation awaited in the nearby Troglodyte Lair. Forced by his own words into entering the cave, he quickly became lost in its pitch-darkness.

Beginning to sense the stench of the cavern's inhabitants, Langraft attempted to think as hard as he possibly could. So desperate was his desire to escape from the horrible situation that he put himself in, that Savras himself took pity. A witch-light appeared above his head and escorted him out of the closest exit before any Troglodyte could sense him.

Langraft became a Priest of Savras and went on to lead a revival of the faith in the region.

-Nurture the qualities of those one may consider lesser than he, for a lesser friend is better than none.
