Forgive my delay in preparing at least the first half of this report, but I believe it will be more complete now. On the 19th of the previous month a Vela'Lateau training patrol led by Amand, Anethandreil, and myself, headed into the Bloodmoon caverns.

At the mouth of the caves we heard the beating of war drums and a powerful speaker preparing the horde inside for war. What came out were not typical blood moon orcs, but far stronger, and members of other orc clans as well. We were forced to fall back to Merogo's wines, from which we sent runners to Bendir and Cordor, placed scouts in the woods, and our main force headed to defend Wharftown as that's where the army was initially headed.

We repelled the skirmishers headed to Wharftown, at which point the Orc horde headed to Cordor, and laid siege to the city. Amand took the Vela'keryn into battle supporting the Cordorian army, while I took Vela'shil and proceeded to work around behind enemy lines, causing as much disruption as we could.

The force was eventually defeated, at which time an arch devil appeared to those gathered still on the battle field (Myon had pursued the fleeing troops concerned about them targeting the woods, this next part is reported by Councillor Dante of Cordor). The archdevil said that the attack had been a test of his experiments and that they had obviously failed. He said he would leave for now if a champion from Cordor was chosen to face his own champion. Stephen Hull was selected and bested the archdevil's minion, at which point the archdevil left.

In the time after this attack I have been sending patrols into the Bloodmoons to make sure there is no force massing for a second attack. On one of these missions a number of things were discovered; I will provide these facts in outline form on the following page.

  • the archdevil has been working with another, undisclosed force with operatives on the island.
    • the presence of powerful cold magics in the area lead me to suspect aurilites.
  • the demonic forces have been focusion on creating golems, chimera, and twisted warriors of the corpses of old soldiers.
    • they seem to have particular interest in humans and elves with tiefling blood.
  • a githyanki was found imprisoned in a glass tube, upon its release it confirmed both the above points
  • other than the bloodmoon caves the githyanki has lead us to believe there is another base of operations. there is evidence suggesting this may be the ruins of Old Stonehold. When an appropriate force can be assembled I will investigate.

As to what this archdevils goals or plans are, I am still in the dark, although hopefully for not much longer
