Magic: unseen relationships between physics & metaphysics.

Spell: something that uses magic to create an external event.

Philosophy: Unifying principle behind a collection of spells (eg: necromancy or divination).

Thaumaturgy: One's practice of magic. The methods by which they reliably illicit magical events. Different methods exist in addition to the balanced emphasis in standard spell-casting.

For example spellsongs, focussing first primarily on Verbal, then on Somatic, components (often without any material).

Effect: Categorization based on the result of a spell.

Ritual: A process of spell-casting that attempts to draw an event into effect, rather than personally catalyzing the event. The gradual nature of this process also allows for coordination with others in its attempt.

Rite: An informal ritual process.

Ceremony: A standardized ritual process.

Glyph: A drawn symbol that utilizes magic.

Rune: A glyph that references a universal property.

Sigil: A rune with personalized features.
